THE ESSAY
Many famous schools in Britain, which are just for aristocracy, only teach their students how to become a good human like behaving well and living in harmony with each other. Have you ever wondered why they are existed in this great education? It means that besides what is called background knowledge we have learnt not only in schools, but in our surroundings, qualities of a good human must be highly appreciated. In my point of view, the important qualities of human being are honesty, benevolence, and industriousness to which we need to take much more consideration.

Perhaps, the first and foremost thing that I want to mention of the important quality inside a good human is honesty since I am convinced that honesty is the best policy. No body could doubt that to make our children capable of honesty is the beginning of education. An ex animo person with his straightforwardness will be trusted best in both affair and sentiment. In contrast, telling a lie is an intolerable action. In some cultures, telling a lie expresses a weak soul, a bad brainpower, a guilt individual. Liar is not worth being considered as an honest one and certainly, he is not believed when he speaks the truth. Leptolxtoile – the famous author in Russia and all over the world in nineteenth century – has given us his fable upon the boy who tells a lie and then receive a miserable ending, let’s take it as a dramatic lesson. However, in some necessary cases, by means of politeness, something needs to be kept in secret, then, the truth become unreasonable, we also can flexibly speak avoid it. But just remember one thing: “Honesty makes man be respectability”.

The second thing but not less importance is benevolence. You may remember the character Bà Cụ Tứ, the old poor mother in “Vợ nhặt”, a masterpiece of the Vietnamese peasantry author - Kim Lân. In the sombrous picture of famine in 1945, when mouth and stomach are much more valuable than everything in life, when all people’s minds are nothing but almost sunk in such questions “what to eat?” and “where they are?”, but in the darkness of poverty, there is still something to hope for – a light source of love in her soul. Therefore, that light is tens of thousand more priceless. Bà Cụ Tứ accepted a young wretched woman as her daughter-in-law even though she knows well that it’s much more difficult for her to survive her whole 3 mouths family. She is kind-hearted since she is a woman of great love and compassion. She, I strongly believe as any other Vietnamese women, lives not for her own sake but for others’. That is her beauty and also man’s beauty, beauty in the very soul. Her situation is really poor, but I am convinced that she’s extremely rich, rich of love and happiness. All of us can see that she has a sense of well-being since happiness involves giving freely to others and not necessary wanting something in return. How worth that heart is being respected for!

The last important quality but not the least that I support a good human has is industriousness. There is no denying that not every one of us has this good quality, especially in this hastened society in the present day, science brings to us the advantages of modern life on one hand and on the other hand, it makes us more and more lazy. Many of us, particularly in youth, are usually easy with ourselves, don’t realize that nothing if not happiness that a job gives us, by means of the saying: “Work spares us from three great evils: boredom, vice, and need”. To some certain extent, diligence shows passion. Regarding passion, Randy Pausch once said to his students on their graduate day, few months before his death, “You need to find your passion. Many of you have already done it. Many of you will later. Many of you may take to your thirty or forty. But don’t give up on finding it… Your passion must come from the things that fill you from the inside”. Accordingly, those who work hard, they have aspiration, and little by little, they change the world. For this, I do believe that hard-working is one of the important qualities of a good human.

On those characteristics I have discussed above, I don’t mean any of them are the be-all and end-all. They are equal and extremely important to stay inside a good human.
